Brother MFC-J6545DW Reviews– The Brother printer MFC-J6935DW inkjet printer is one of the few inkjet inkjet ink cartridges that can not only print, but also copy, scan and fax tabloid-size (11-for-17 inch) sheets. Editors Choice HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 wide Format All-in-One printer can print at least, copy and scan (if not fax) sheets up to this size, but the MFC-J6935DW has more generous paper capacity and significantly lower running costs than the HP 7740, while the Competes in speed and output quality, and easily serves a editorial choice.
The MFC J6935DW is similar to the Brother MFC J6930DW, but adds the PCL5 printer language and a low paper warning. The most important change, however, is that it supports the use of Brother’s InKvestment cartridges while the Brother MFC-J6930DW does not, which makes the latter printer significantly higher operating costs. J6935DWs Graphics quality is also a little better than what we saw with the MFC-J6930DW.
Wide Wide Format
Not surprisingly for a printer that can handle wide-format paper, the MFC-J6935DW is large and heavy for an inkjet. This two-tone (white and gray) printer measures 14.7 at 22.6 x 18.8 inches (HWD) and weighs 51.8 pounds, and must have a table or a bench of itself for rest and at least two people to move it in place. Paper capacity is a generous 600 sheet, divided between two 250 sheet trays and a 100 sheet multi-function feeder. Both the drawer and feeder support printing up to tabloid size. It has an auto duplexer for printing on both sides of a sheet of paper and can automatically print bilateral documents up to 11 to 17 inches.
Paper capacity is the same as the MFC J5930DW, although this printer can only print bilateral documents up to a legal size. The HP 7740 has a lower capacity of 500 sheets, between two trays of 250 sheets that can support paper in paper size but lack a multi-function feeder. The printer’s maximum monthly work cycle is 30,000 pages, the same as the MFC J6935DW and HP 7740 with a recommended print volume of up to 2,000 pages.
The MFC J6935DW includes a tabloid-size Flatloft plus a 50-sheet automatic Document feeder (ADF) that supports single-sided (two-way) scanning, copying, and faxing documents up to tabloid size. The front panel has a 3.7-inch colour touchscreen and a numeric keypad. To the lower left of the panel is a port for a USB drive.
A well-connected all-in-one
A generous set of connectivity options is one of the MFC-J6935DW’s strengths. You can connect to a PC using a USB cable or to a local area network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. It can also be connected via a direct peer-to-peer connection to a compatible mobile device via Wi-Fi Direct, and support for Near Field Communication (NFC). I tested it mainly over an Ethernet connection with its drivers installed on a PC running Windows 10 Professional.
MFC-J6935DW supports Google Cloud Print and works with the Brother IPrint & Scan app, and it is both AirPrint-and Mopria-compatible for easy printing from IOS and Android devices. Using Brother Web Connect, you can scan and upload photos to websites such as Box, Brother Cloud Apps, Dropbox, Evernote, Flickr, Google docs, OneNote, Picasa Web albums, and SharePoint Online.
Competitive speed
In my test, the MFC-J6935DW showed a reasonably good speed in accordance with similar printers. I timed it at 16.5 pages per minute (ppm) when printing the only portion (Word) in our enterprise application package, slightly less than the printer’s nominal black print speed of 22ppm. First page-out time was 8 seconds. When printing our full business suite, which contains PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel files in addition to the above mentioned Word document, the MFC-J6935DW was a respectable 12.2 ppm. These times closely match the speeds of the Brother MFC-J5930DW, which is tested at 16.7 ppm with the Word document and 12, 2ppm for the entire packet. The HP 7740 was significantly faster when printing the Word document (23.6 ppm), but slower with the whole package (9.7 ppm).
Output Quality
Output quality is a big plus for MFC-J5935DW, with excellent text for inkjet, average graphics and over couple of images. Text must be good enough for most business purposes except those that require exceptionally small fonts.
Graphics are good enough for PowerPoint handouts, maybe even prints to people you’re trying to impress with your professionalism. Some backgrounds saw a touch faded, and I noticed mild ribbons in a few illustrations. Banding was not as significant as what we saw when we reviewed the MFC-J6930DW. These minor flaws are purely aesthetic and should not have any effect on the presentation of information. With pictures There was a little bit in the monochrome Test guide. Detail in both dark and light areas of prints is displayed reasonably well.
Because they use the same INKvestment cartridges, MFC-J5930DW shares the low operating costs for MFC-J6935DW: 1 cent per black page and 4.7 cents per colour page, based on brother’s price and yield figures. They are lower than the operating costs of the Brother MFC-J6930DW (1.7 cents per black page and 8.2 cents per colour page), which do not use INKvestment cartridges and also lower than HP 7740 (2.1 cents per black page and 8.1 cents per colour page).
